Bugs Beware

This release represents three months of cumulative bug fixes to the Bondware core. Highlights include:

• Fixed RSS feeds for compatibility with Apple News, etc
• Fixed bug where Digital Editions could use local storage vs Amazon S3 as intended
• Improved rendering of Digital Editions from PDF to JPG images
• Improved image storage migrations from local to Amazon S3
• Fixed problem where database connection could time-out unexpectedly

Growing Your Revenue in '16

If you are a news publisher using Bondware Digital Editions (and you probably should be, since it's so easy), it might be a good idea for your salespeople to take along a tablet on their next call. Our Digital Editions create a multi-platform app directly from your print PDF file with minimal effort. In addition to the ads already in your print edition, you can also sell "insert" ads between the pages of your Digital Edition app.

When you show prospects your Digital Edition, you can remind them that: "When you advertise with us, your message is delivered to the home, to the street and to everyone's iPad, smart phone and computer. No one else can promise you that."

Sending out regular email editions of your news product creates a virtuous cycle by marketing your news content, increasing site traffic (and online ad inventory) and creating new advertising opportunities in the email edition. Bondware includes a basic, but powerful, email newsletter feature in every 4.x site with up to 5000 free estamps each month. More powerful features are available in our Newsletter Pro module for $15/month.

Finally, Bondware makes it easy and cost effective to place your content behind a paywall, including your Digital Editions. Our Simple Store allows you to sell online and print subscriptions using only a basic PayPal account. Our paywall can be configured for a hard-stop, limited free views monthly (metered paywall), or full access to content sections after an embargo period for maximum business flexibility. Some of our customers are seeing success with short-term subscriptions (one day or one week) for customers are looking for a specific article or topic.
