Bondware Version 4.44

Video Content Support

Clients often ask us about the best way to add video content to their website. While Bondware supports uploading/serving video directly, we find that most publishers are better served by uploading their video to a video hosting site like YouTube first and then embedding the end-product into their Bondware site. The reasons are many but include the potential storage/bandwidth costs and the difficult work of trans-coding the video to work with all of today's popular devices.

This release of Bondware provides a convenient toggle on an article that will consistently cue readers that the article contains video content regardless of how the headlines are presented. There is also a new element that will round up headlines from all articles with video content. Our support staff has created an informative article/video on using this new feature here.

Updated Social Sharing

When Bondware first introduced Social Bookmarking (now dated teminology), MySpace was the one of the hottest social networks. Let's just say times have changed and Bondware has been updated to reflect the most popular social networks of today. Networks offered now include Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Google Plus and Reddit. You can manage social sharing placement in your article templates and network inclusion/exclusion under Admin|Content|Content Preferences|Social Sharing options.

Translation/Localization Capability

The latest version of Bondware allows site owners to translate/localize messaging in areas such as login, logout, search. We continue to bring more of Bondware into this system upon request. We would like to thank MandalsPosten.no, a Bondware newspaper customer in Norway, for leading the charge with this feature. Site admins can customize this messaging by going to Admin|Settings|Advanced Site Features|Translation/Localization.

Content Section Templates Overhaul

Lastly, it has come to our attention that the many-to-many relationship between sections & section templates has been a point of confusion for customers. To address this, we have simplified the arrangement so that a given section can be associated with the one "default" section template for the site or have it's very own section template that can be be editing along-side other section preferences. To see this new capability, go to Admin|Content|Manage Sections|Edit a Section.
