Publish Version 4.22

Tiered Permissions for Editorial Teams

One of our most requested features over time has been different permission levels for content creators within a Publish site.  The  team is pleased to announce the delivery of this feature in the 4.22 release.

We have introduced new Editor and Writer permission levels that can be assigned for each content section.  Once assigned, editors and writers will be limited to managing content within their assigned sections.  Users in the traditional "admin" role will continue to have full access to the admin area as usual.

This feature should simplify the management of larger sites by allowing content creators to manage content while limiting access to other sensitive site settings/information.  Please contact our support staff if you would like more information on this powerful new feature.

Facebook Comment Support

The latest release supports the ability to configure a Publish website so that it uses Facebook to handle comments on articles. This can increase traffic from the social network of the person posting or the Facebook page associated with your publication.  Social network integration has been a frequently requested feature for Publish and we hope this first step will be useful to publishers.

Improved Image Manager in HTML Editor

Recently we upgraded the HTML editor code used in Publish.  Unfortunately, the image manager component of this new softwareresponded slowly when dealing with the large numbers of images on some customer sites.  We are pleased to announce that we have worked with our vendor and are rolling out a much improved version in this release that addresses most of the outstanding issues.

Other Fixes/Improvements

  • Moved restricted access (paywall) message to Content Preferences for clarity
  • Fixed license management issues that erroneously reported expired licenses in some cases
  • Fixed issue with erroneous expiration of dated roles when editing members
  • Added quick links to article sections when viewing active, pending, closed articles
